Louisiana Transfer Associate Degree Information

The Louisiana Transfer Associate is a degree offered by a two-year or community college as an interim step to the bachelor’s degree. It allows you to complete the first 60 hours of college work toward a 4-year degree while you attend the two-year or community college. This 60-hour degree is designed to give you the foundation to succeed in the baccalaureate and to help you make wise choices about the majors that are best for you.

Associate of Arts Louisiana Transfer Degree (AA/LT)
The Associate of Arts/Louisiana Transfer (AA/LT) Degree provides a seamless transition to appropriate baccalaureate degree programs at public colleges and universities in Louisiana. Students should select courses carefully to ensure that they satisfy the requirements of the desired degree at the receiving institution.

The degree includes 39 credit hours of General Education requirements and 21 credit hours of electives that prepare the student for the requirements of the desired bachelor’s degree. All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.

The Associate of Arts/Louisiana Transfer (AA/LT) Degree includes three concentrations: Humanities, Fine Arts, and Social Sciences. Please see the following program pages for the requirements for each concentration.

Students pursuing a Louisiana Transfer Degree should check the catalog of the institution to which they intend to transfer for specific course recommendations, depending on their anticipated major.

Completion of the AALT or ASLT degree guarantees that the student has met, in full, all lower-division general education requirements at the receiving Louisiana public university. Graduates transferring with the transfer degree will have junior status. Courses or GPA requirements for specific majors, departments, or schools are not automatically satisfied by an AALT or ASLT degree.

2010-2011 Master Articulation Matrix
The Master Articulation Matrix is a Board of Regents approved document indicating the majority of General Education courses taught at two-year community and technical colleges with the equivalent course listed for Nunez Community College.
