CHALMETTE, LA—Students in the Industrial Technology degree program at Nunez Community College are now able
to transfer to Nicholls State University via a recent articulation agreement.
Nunez Chancellor, Dr. Thomas R. Warner, and Nicholls State University President, Dr. Stephen
T. Hulbert, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to facilitate course transfer from
Nunez’s Industrial Technology Associate of Applied Sciences program into the Bachelor of
Science program in Petroleum Services at Nicholls State. Nunez students are not required to
have completed a degree from Nunez in order to be eligible for the transfers.
Warner noted that the agreement “ensures that local industries continue to receive a workforce
that is highly-educated and well-trained.”
He also stated that the agreement is “exemplary”. “It really shows how institutions of higher
learning form cooperative relationships that create more options for students to further ameliorate
their educational experiences,” Warner said.
Don Hoffman, director of Technology Programs at Nunez, calls the agreement “a good opportunity for
students to use their credits to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in the industry they are interested in.”
Nunez’s two-year degree in Industrial Technology prepares students for in-demand, high-paying
operating careers in process-based industries, including chemical, food and beverage, oil exploration
and production, power generation, pulp and paper, refining and waste water treatment. Our process
technology partners include Valero, Shell Motiva, Phillips 66, Air Products, Domino Sugar, Intralox,
Exxon Mobil, Entergy, Targa Resources, Chevron, DOW Chemical, ADM Grain, and SGS Petroleum.
