A Message from the Chancellor

Dr. Tina Tinney

Welcome to the Nunez Community College website!

As your chancellor, I am very excited to serve Nunez Community College and our community by providing increased opportunities at  our institution! As a native of St. Bernard, I am proud to work at home with an unwavering commitment to our students’ success! It is my honor and privilege to foster a welcoming learning environment and a campus culture that prioritizes quality education and training.

Our College was established in 1992, and my affiliation with Nunez Community College began in 1999 when I joined the ranks as a faculty member. That year was also significant in that it coincided with the establishment of the Louisiana Community & Technical College System (LCTCS), with Nunez as one of its constituent colleges. My own education and work continued at several institutions across southeast Louisiana, but I am happy to now be back at Nunez to finish my career!

As a comprehensive community college, Nunez offers both transfer and terminal career & technical programs, as well as customized training to meet our mission of providing academic opportunities and workforce development. We are committed to facilitating our students’ personal and professional success, building our local and regional workforce, and serving our communities as an economic driver.

Nunez partners with nearly 50 area businesses to provide industry-driven curriculum and programs, as well as four-year colleges and universities to ensure seamless transfer of credit and program pathways. Look around and you will see the latest, cutting-edge technology; ultra-modern training facilities; and innovative learning options! I like to refer to this as #NextLevelNunez.

The college has forged exciting partnerships with The Boeing Company to deliver an Aerospace Manufacturing Technology program and with St. Bernard Parish Government's Coastal Division to create a Coastal Studies and GIS Technology program that opens the door to new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) opportunities. Research supports that education and training in STEM are tied to high demand, high wage occupations. These are just two examples of the exciting opportunities that exist as a result of partnerships and investments made by business and industry, our state and our college! I hope you will find the information you are seeking on our website, but we would be delighted even more to have you visit our campus in St. Bernard Parish to see for yourself what makes Nunez so special and to see why we are "…Moving Lives Forward!”.
