Nurses are in such high demand these days that at any given time there are typically more job openinings than there are occupants to fill them. Nunez Community College provides the programs that train our students for various opportunities in the nursing field.

NursingStudents interested in this field can choose to pursue:

The Nursing Assistant Technical Competency Area (TCA) prepares students to provide basic bedside care and comfort to patients and residents in multiple healthcare settings, including Long-Term Care; Hospitals; Home Health Care; and, other Healthcare Facilities.

On average, Nursing Assistants earn $21,853 to $26,586 annually.

Licensed Practical Nurses or LPN's provide general nursing care under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, licensed Physicians, Dentists or Optometrists.

Our Practical Nursing Technical Diploma has a unique, accelerated curriculum: After a student has completed the prerequisite courses, the Practical Nursing program is approximately twelve (12) months long.

Once in the PN program, students attend class or clinicals on a busy forty (40) hours a week schedule. Classroom hours are typically 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Clinical times will vary depending on the clinical site. Our semesters align with the College Catalog and allows for breaks and holidays.

Successful completion of this program qualifies the graduate to take the National Council Licensure Examination for State Licensure as a Practical Nurse (LPN).

Classes begin in the Fall and Spring. All prerequisite classes must be completed by May for Fall enrollment, and by August for Spring enrollment. This is a limited enrollment program.

Practical Nurses earn an average of $35,119 - $49,283 per year.
