To All Nunez Community College Employees:
We will be going live with our new Banner payroll/HR system on June 25, 2012. Your
first paycheck will be a paper check, sent to Nunez Community College from
the LCTCS in
time for distribution on payroll Friday, July 13. Checks will be handed out in the
Bursar’s Office during regular business hours. If you cannot pick up your check in
person, someone else may pick it up for you as long as you have provided written
authorization for that person to hand to the Bursar. The authorization must be
signed
by you. Your check-picker-upper will also have to provide a picture ID that matches
the name on your authorization letter. Any checks not picked up by close of business
on Friday July 13 will be kept safely over the weekend in the college safe and available
for you or your authorized picker-upper to pick up the next week.
These first checks will
NOT be mailed except in extreme circumstances.
We will go live with our web time entry on
August 6, for the pay date of
August 24, 2012.
In order to ensure that you know how to complete your timesheets online, using the LoLA
sign-on page,
training will take place throughout the Summer Semester.
Everyone is welcome to attend any session as often as you’d
like. Carol McLeod,
Director of Human Resources,
will send out emails to all employees and post times, dates,
and places when the training schedule is finalized.
In addition to these training sessions, LCTCS has also provided an online
Digital Campus
Academy for Web Time Entry. You can access the academy from any computer anywhere (even while
you’re lying on the beach or riding a roller coaster, if you want to). The academy will introduce
you to the timesheet and explain how to enter your time.

Campus Academy

We have two main categories of employees:
salaried
and
hourly.
An hourly employee is paid by hours worked. Examples of hourly employees are some part time
police officers, student workers, and regular employees with secondary contracts (not
overloads). If you are an hourly employee, or have an hourly second contract, you will
continue to send a paper timesheet for that position to the payroll department.
There will be a timesheet online for those positions, but
payroll will enter your time on hourly positions for you. You will not need to access an online timesheet for any hourly job.
All other employees are considered
salaried employees. You must have all of your time
entered in your online timesheet by noon on the Friday ending the pay period. A list of
those Fridays is below. You may open your timesheet
by signing in to LoLA at any time
during the pay period and you can enter time through noon on that Friday. Every timesheet
will then be approved by an approver in your department.
For the time being, until we are all more comfortable with using an online system, payroll
requests that you also submit a paper timesheet to payroll as verification.
However, payroll
will NOT enter your time in Banner—you must
enter your time before noon on Friday
or you will not get paid the next pay day.
All leave requests will continue to be paper leave requests.
There will be no leave approved
online through Banner. You will need to be sure that payroll gets your approved paper leave
request by noon on Friday, at the same time you submit your timesheet online.
We are confident that you will find this new system to be easy to use, once you get used to it. Between
now and August 6, please take the time to go through the
Digital Campus Academy. Feel free to call HR
or payroll for help at any time.
