About Workforce Education:

The Workforce Education Department provides comprehensive, high quality, low cost, short and long-term occupational skills training.

  • Students who are interested in taking classes at Nunez Community College but do not desire to earn credit should apply as a Workforce Development student.
  • In order to begin the application process, create a student account here.

How much does the training cost?
Tuition for the training is $5,500. Tuition assistance is possible.

What does a mobile crane operator do?
A crane operator assists with almost all heavy construction projects around the world. They can be seen in the background of every major project from skyscrapers to refinery and maritime work. An operator must possess a good understanding of load charts and equipment capabilities as well as an incredible command of the crane.

What is the average salary?
Average wage is $28.00-$32.00 an hour to start!!
Most jobs offer ample opportunity for overtime as well.

What type of certification is offered?
Upon successful completion of the course, all operators will test for the fixed-cab telescopic-boom crane (TSS) operator certification from the NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators). Operators have the opportunity to add even larger cranes to their certifications in the future.

Where can I work?
An NCCCO crane operator certification is accepted all over the US as well as many foreign territories.

If you are interested in continuing education courses for personal/professional development or leisure, you should also register under Workforce Development. The same registration system is used for Workforce and continuing education/leisure courses. Continuing education/leisure courses are not credit-bearing courses.

The Office of Continuing Education is located at 3710 Paris Road. A representative is available five days of the week to assist you, please stop by the building during the following hours for personal assistance in registering:

Monday through Thursday: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
