On Oct. 15, Nunez Community College in Chalmette will launch its inaugural Pelican Leadership Institute professional development series. Each PLI series of seminars is designed to deliver training, share best practices and provide resources and tools to develop new skills and help participants stay up-to-date on current trends and advance their careers.

While the Pelican Leadership Institute’s primary aim is to serve as a professional development forum for Nunez faculty, staff and students, professionals from the community are invited to invest in their careers by participating free of charge. Participants may attend one or all of the series. Individuals who attend all four sessions will receive a Nunez certificate of completion to add to their resume.

“PLI was conceived as a semesterly professional development series to support our students and employees. Each semester PLI will focus on a specific topic relevant to today’s work that offers individuals the opportunity to learn and apply new knowledge and skills that can help them in their job and further their career.” said Nunez Chancellor Dr. Tina Tinney. “As part of our mission to serve a vital role in the community, we decided to expand the opportunity to the community at-large.”

Nunez is excited to announce this year’s PLI series, with Fall 2021 focused on Professional Communications and Spring 2022 focused on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace.
