Position Summary
Nunez Community College is seeking a Coordinator of the Sustainable Energy Career Academy (SECA), which aims to build a workforce in support of Louisiana’s burgeoning offshore wind energy sector by offering an Associate of Applied Science degree in Wind Energy Technology, a Career and Technical Certificate in Offshore Safety and Survival, and a Technical Diploma in Wind Turbine Mechanics and Maintenance. These curricula are aligned with Global Wind Organisation (GWO) standards for training wind turbine technicians. The Coordinator of SECA assists the Program Chair of Coastal Studies and GIS in establishing innovative vision and leadership for this program and provides support for student recruitment and programmatic development, management, and recordkeeping.

Education

Required

  • Earned bachelor's degree.

Preferred

  • Earned master’s degree.
  • At least two years of experience in higher education administration or grant administration.
  • At least two years of experience in the renewable energy sector or related field.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison between SECA partners and the College's division directors to coordinate the scheduling of courses and training.
  • Procures equipment, supplies, and other material resources for SECA.
  • Assists with budgetary oversight of SECA.
  • Collaborates with the the College’s Business office to ensure billing accuracy.
  • Assists in developing & maintaining an advisory board for SECA.
  • Provides support to SECA faculty for reporting student attainment of GWO certifications and industry-based credentials.
  • Possesses knowledge of GWO curricula or a willingness to gain this knowledge.
  • Maintains ongoing familiarization with and application of GWO standards as they are updated and expanded.
  • Tracks and disseminates updates to GWO standards and the developing North American Wind Industry standards.
  • Provides support to SECA faculty for updating course fees.
  • Supports in developing dual enrollment, Jumpstart, and Fast Forward degree pathways for high school students.
  • Manages the data entry, report generation, and information maintenance for SECA funding sources.
  • Manages the reporting of program activities through presentations, press releases, and other promotional methods to highlight the program’s outcomes.
  • Works with adult education, external stakeholders, and academics to operationalize noncredit and credit pathways.
  • As needed, serves as the college’s representative in all meetings, events, and activities related to SECA projects and initiatives on a local, regional, and state level.
  • Assumes special responsibilities on assignment from the Coastal Studies and GIS Program Chair, the Dean of Instruction, the Vice Chancellor for Education, Training and Student Success, or the Chancellor.
