Nunez Classes of 2020 and 2021 Walk During 29th Commencement Ceremony

Graduates from Nunez Community College’s Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 shared the stage May 27 in the Nunez Auditorium for the college’s 29th Commencement Ceremony.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Nunez’s 28th Commencement Ceremony was held virtually in May of 2020. In order to provide the full graduation experience of receiving a diploma on stage from Nunez Chancellor Dr. Tina Tinney, the Class of 2020 was invited to participate in the 29th Commencement Ceremony on Nunez’s Chalmette campus.

Three abbreviated ceremonies were held May 27 to accommodate all the participating graduates and their guests. Of the more than 800 graduates from Nunez’s Class of 2020 and 2021, nearly 600 graduates walked across the stage in the Nunez Auditorium.

All three ceremonies were recorded and will be compiled in a video that will be published shortly on Nunez’s YouTube account.

Among the graduates participating in the May 27 ceremonies, seven completed their degrees with a perfect 4.0 GPA. They are Aynur Abdullin (New Orleans), Emily Artigues (Chalmette), Alejandro Jasso (Chalmette), Mark Patrick Kropog Jr. (Belle Chasse), Antonio O. Nieto-Campagna (New Orleans), Jacobi Thiel (Metairie) and Savannah A. Yusuff (Chalmette).

Tamryn Barletto of Slidell was named to the Phi Theta Kappa 2020 All-Academic Team.

25 high school students from Chalmette High School and Phoenix High School who participated in Dual Enrollment classes through Nunez also graduated with a credential from Nunez in the same month they graduated high school.
