The Fall 2022 Practical Nursing class was unique in that the three awards traditionally awarded at graduation went to four students.

Both Terrionne Heim and Breonka Brown received the Spirit Award, chosen by their classmates as the individual who has motivated them and served as “class cheerleader.”

“Terrionne has been described by her classmates as encouraging, motivated, dedicated, and bubbly,” Nunez Nursing Director Brittney Zaffuto said during the Pinning Ceremony. “Her peers saw her as having a caring heart. It was noted that she always had funny ways of helping her classmates remember things to help information ‘stick.’”

“Breonka has been described by her peers as always having a positive attitude and as someone who demonstrated perseverance,” said Zaffuto. “She has motivated her classmates along the way and encouraged her peers to keep pushing towards the goal of completing the program strong.”

The Academic Achievement Award for highest GPA in all nursing courses went to Kayla Tardo.

The Nightingale Award, chosen by the nursing faculty as the student who “demonstrates the qualities of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing” went to Kelsey Dewint.

“Kelsey has been described by her nursing instructors as dedicated and committed,” said Zaffuto. “She was noted to always be willing to help in clinical and was described as someone who truly cares about her patients.”
