The Nunez Community College Foundation Board invites everyone to celebrate and support the college by taking part in its annual Pelicans and Pearls Gala fundraiser on Friday, May 19, from 6-9 p.m. at Docville Farm in St. Bernard Parish.

The Gala will include dishes prepared by Nunez’s Culinary Arts students, tastings from area restaurants, soft drinks, music, beer, wine, and a special Pelican Punch.  There will also be raffles, a silent auction, and a bevy of “Pearl-itzer Prizes” as part of this fun fundraiser.

Individual tickets are $55 each with sponsorship packages available for organizations with multiple members who wish to attend. Attire for the event is business or cocktail attire.

Katherine Lemoine, Nunez Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement, said this annual event raises scholarship funds which provide a chance to attend college to many students who otherwise could not.

"This event is truly a party with a purpose since it supports our scholarship program," Lemoine said. "The Pelicans and Pearls Gala is a festive night to celebrate all that is good here in our hometown."

She said the gala’s theme underscores the importance of Nunez to the community.

“We feel that Nunez is a gem in St. Bernard, and we want to celebrate it as a pearl of our parish.”

For tickets and sponsorship information please contact Lemoine at 504-382-2090 or klemoine@nunez.edu.

Registration is also open now for both the Summer and Fall 2023 terms at Nunez.edu.
