Nunez SGA Cleaning Up the Campus

Members of the Student Government Association at Nunez Community College pick up litter during Campus Clean Up Day 2023. The event was part of “Love the Boot Week,” which Nunez will again participate in for Campus Clean Up Day 2024 on April 23. The entire community is invited to volunteer during the event.

The Student Government Association at Nunez Community College is reaching out to the community for a hand cleaning up the Nunez campus for “Love the Boot Week 2024.”

For the second year in a row, Nunez’s Campus Clean Up Day, which is sponsored by the SGA, will be a part of “Love the Boot Week,” a volunteer event that spans the entire state April 20-28. Nunez’s Campus Clean Up Day is scheduled for Tuesday, April 23.

“Keeping our campus, communities, and nearby waterways free from litter is one easy way we can all work together to keep our ecosystem healthy and show off our Nunez pride!” said Jacqueline Richard, program manager and associate professor for Nunez’s Coastal Studies and GIS program, as well as a recent Coastal Stewardship Award winner from the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL).

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up at keeplouisianabeautiful.org/love-the-boot/volunteer. Enter the correct Zip code, 70043, and click on the Nunez event. The signup process only takes a minute.

Volunteers are then asked to gather in the lobby of Nunez’s AST Building at 10 a.m. on April 23.

The Nunez SGA will provide trash bags, gloves and grabbers, then volunteers will be broken up into groups and assigned different parts of campus to pick up litter.
