Troy Sino Jr. of Chalmette, Nunez Community College’s recently elected Student Government Association President for the 2025-2026 academic year, was chosen by his peers on the Louisiana Council of Student Body Presidents to serve as Vice Chair for the statewide group for the coming year.
For the first time the college’s history, Nunez Community College’s incoming student body president has been elected as Vice Chair for the Louisiana Council of Student Body Presidents.
Troy Sino Jr. of Chalmette was elected by his Council of Student Body Presidents (COSBP) peers to serve as Vice Chair for the 2025-2026 academic year May 12 in Baton Rouge. In that capacity, Sino will fill in for the COSBP Chair in the event of an absence or vacancy, will oversee the COSBP committee system, and will participate in Executive Committee meetings.
COSBP serves to promote communication among students from Louisiana’s various college systems – LSU, SU, UL, and LCTC (Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges). Based on those communications, COSBP communicates student input to the Louisiana Board of Regents.
“I want to give God the glory, and thank God for giving me the opportunity to hold the position of president of the Nunez SGA, as well as COSBP Vice Chair,” said Sino. “I’m so excited for the opportunity to show people what Nunez offers as a college and to provide a different perspective to the executive board when it comes to the things I say or do on behalf of all community colleges.”
Sino was Mr. Chalmette High School in 2024. He’s also an avid hunter and fisherman, a youth leader, and operates his own business crafting flowers and other art from metal after learning the craft as a Dual Enrollment student in Nunez’s Welding program. He is a TOPS Tech recipient currently working on his general education requirements at Nunez with plans to pursue a degree in physical therapy.
Sino will be joined on Nunez’s 2025-2026 SGA Senate Executive Committee by fellow officers Vice President Travera Johnson, Secretary Jarrione Clofer and Treasurer Kimberly Briscoe.
