Two-Time Olypmic Medalist from Louisiana Set to Speak at Nunez Graduation

Hollis Conway, a two-time Olympic medalist in the high jump for the USA, will address graduates at Nunez Community College’s Graduation Ceremony May 21 in Chalmette. Hollis is a native of Shreveport.

Nunez Community College is proud to announce two-time Olympic medalist Hollis Conway as our special guest speaker for Graduation 2025.

Conway, a high jumper for Team USA who earned a silver medal in Seoul in 1988 and a bronze medal in Barcelona in 1992, will share his message with Nunez grads May 21 in the Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette. Conway, who is from Shreveport, is a six-time NCAA All-American, three-time NCAA champion during his time at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, 1991 World Indoor Champion and a member of the Louisiana Hall of Fame. He currently serves as the Vice President of Membership and External Affairs for the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission.

“I’m so excited to share with the Nunez family and look forward to this year’s graduates raising the bar of success and jumping over every obstacle that comes their way,” said Conway.

Nunez Chancellor Tina Tinney expressed her excitement for graduates to hear from a speaker who has succeeded on one of the biggest stages in the world.

"We are truly honored to have Mr. Conway deliver this year's Commencement address! We are thrilled to have him share his wisdom, insights and testimony of persistence and dedication with this year's graduates," said Dr. Tinney.
