Nunez Workforce Offers Short-Term Heavy Equipment Certification Courses

Nunez Community College is offering a series of short-term courses to certify students in the use of various heavy equipment.

The Workforce division at Nunez Community College has multiple short-term courses coming up that will allow students to earn certifications for various forms of heavy machinery.

To begin registration for any of the following, please submit a Workforce Inquiry Form at Nunez.edu/Workforce.

Financial assistance may be available to students through Louisiana’s MJ Foster Promise Program. Check your eligibility at mjfosterpromise.com.

Forklift
This is a one-day class for $100. Students will learn to operate a standard forklift.

Classes will be offered on July 11, Aug. 8, Sept. 11, and Oct. 10.

PIT (Powered Industrial Trucking)
This is a two-day course for $600. Students will train on the scissor lift, forklift, boom lift, and telescoping forklift.

Classes will be offered July 17-18, Aug. 21-22, Sept. 25-26, Oct. 23-24, Nov. 6-7, and Dec. 11-12.

Heavy Equipment
This is a six-week course for $5,500. Students will be certified to operate the forklift, telehandler, aerial lift, scissor lift, skid steer, bulldozer, excavator, and front payloader. Students will also earn Industry-Based Certifications in NCCER Core, NCCER Heavy Equipment, OSHA-10, and CPR.

Classes will be offered Aug. 4-Sept. 12 and Oct. 6-Nov. 14.
