The Nunez Community College Pelicans Baseball team concluded its 2026 season May 13 by celebrating the hard work, dedication, and achievement of its student athletes at its annual Athletics Award Ceremony.
Head Coach Glenn Powell, Assistant Coaches Alex Powell, Blaine Spencer, and Reggie Bergeron, and Athletic Advisor Megan Trainor, introduced each award winner. The players made their way to the front of the flex space in Nunez’s Student Testing and Career Counseling Center to pose for pictures with the coaching staff and Dr. Tina Tinney, Nunez Chancellor.
“I couldn’t be prouder of this group of young men and what they have accomplished both on and off the field this year,” said Head Coach Glenn Powell. “Celebrating our individual award winners and All-Region selections is always a highlight, but witnessing 16 of our players walk across the graduation stage, especially those achieving remarkable academic feats like earning multiple degrees, is the true essence of Pelicans Baseball. They have set a standard of excellence in the classroom, in the community, and on the field that will influence our program for years to come.”
Award winners included:
- MVP – Brock Louque (Lutcher High School)
- Offensive Player of the Year – Connor Stelly (St. Thomas Moore High School)
- Defensive Player of the Year – Logan Coley (Live Oak High School)
- Pitcher of the Year – Luke Conerly (East Ascension High School)
- Reliever of the Year – Eli Fuselier (Dutchtown High School)
- Newcomer of the Year – William Nikolaus (Dunham High School)
- Coaches Award – Luke Pittman (Parkview Baptist High School)

Louque and Nikolaus were also named to the 2026 NJCAA All-Region 23 Team. Louque became just the fourth Pelican to be selected All-Region in two separate years (Ben Harris in 2022 and 2024, Noah Detillier in 2023-24, and Dorien Jackson in 2024-25), and the only one in that group to be selected at two different positions (Infield in 2025 and outfield in 2026). Stelly also broke the Pels’ Home Run Record this year with 15 homers, and Pittman, in addition to being a team captain, was one of Nunez’s first mascots, holding the incognito responsibility of Bernard the Pelican to a high standard.
The Pelicans had 16 players walk across the stage May 20 during Nunez’s 34th Commencement Ceremony at the Sigur Center in Chalmette. Players receiving their Student Athlete stoles at the Awards Ceremony included:
