Nunez Community College is offering scholarships and internships to Cybersecurity majors during the Fall 2026 semester.
The Computer Science program has more than 10 Louisiana Board of Regents Talent Initiative Fund scholarships available to both new and returning students pursuing their associate degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance. The scholarships are $1,000 per semester for two semesters.
To qualify, students must be enrolled in a minimum of two Cybersecurity courses at Nunez. The deadline to apply is Aug. 14 at Nunez.edu/Scholarships.
In addition to the scholarships, the Computer Science program has partnered with the college’s Information Technology (IT) department to offer 10 IT Help Desk internships. Three of the 10 interns will be added to the IT staff as paid student workers.
The IT Help Desk internships are reserved for returning Cybersecurity majors who have completed at least one semester of the program. Applicants must email a resume and a short essay (500 words or less) to [email protected] by Aug. 10.
IT interns will work on campus with the IT staff. Participation in the program satisfies the internship requirement for CSCI 2400, a required course in the Cybersecurity curriculum.
During orientation, all 10 IT interns will be invited to apply for one of three paid IT Student Help Desk positions, funded through the Louisiana Board of Regents Cyber Initiative Grant. The three paid student workers will work 20 hours per week.
Both the internships and the student worker positions are limited to the fall semester. A new cohort of interns will be chosen for the Spring 2027 semester.
Orientation will be held Aug. 11-14, with the internships beginning Aug. 17. Fall classes will begin Aug. 18.
