Nunez Community College's History Lecture Series returns for the Fall 2026 semester with a special presentation from Chef Andrea Appuzo.
The program will take place Sept. 10 from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. in the Culinary Café in the Kane Building on the Nunez campus. The Kane Building is located on Lafontaine Street on the Nunez campus. Future culinary-focused History Lecture Series events will also take place in the Culinary Café.
Seats are filled for this special event. Guests of past History Lecture Series presentations are encouraged to monitor their email for notifications of future events, which will offer limited seating.
Andrea Apuzzo is an acclaimed Italian chef and longtime fixture of the Greater New Orleans culinary community. His restaurant, Andrea’s in Metairie, was one of the New Orleans area’s most notable Italian restaurants for decades.
Born and raised in Italy, Chef Andrea moved to New Orleans in 1977 and served as Executive Chef of the Royal Orleans Hotel until 1985, when he left to open Andrea’s. Over the course of his celebrated career, he has published two cookbooks, La Cucina di Andrea’s and Andrea’s Light Cookbook, and received numerous honors, including the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence and the DiRoNA Excellence Award.
Hosted in partnership with the Nunez Culinary Arts program, this special culinary demonstration will feature Chef Andrea preparing Red Snapper or Puppy Drum Palermitana. Along the way, Chef Andrea will share the techniques, ingredients, traditions, and stories behind the cuisine while reflecting on his journey from Italy to New Orleans and his decades in the local restaurant industry.
