The STCCC Building on the Nunez campus will host Cybersecurity Day Oct. 8 as part of Cyber Awareness Month. The discussion between Nunez Computer Science faculty and industry partners is open to the community.
The public is invited to a conversation about the impact of artificial intelligence on cybersecurity Oct. 8 on the Nunez campus as part of Cyber Awareness Month.
Faculty from Nunez’s Computer Science program will speak to industry partners from the program’s advisory council about the positive and negative probabilities of AI in the realm of online security. Attendance is free and open to the community. The public portion will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Student Testing and Career Counseling Center (STCCC) on the Nunez campus.
In the wake of recent headlines regarding the unpredictability of AI, Computer Science Program Chair Martin Davis says Cyber Awareness Month couldn’t have come at a better time.
“There are so many takes and opinions about AI flying around right now. This discussion is a chance for our students and our community to hear from industry leaders about the threats and solutions AI poses on a local level, and about where the field is heading,” said Davis.
Representatives from local employers and Louisiana universities will also be on hand to speak with Computer Science students about career opportunities and continuing their studies after graduating from Nunez.
Additionally, the Computer Science program will offer Intro AI & Prompt Engineering and Business Computer Applications courses during Mini-Session B, which begins Oct. 14. Apply now at Nunez.edu or visit the Student Success Center in the AST Building to speak one-on-one with a Nunez Success Coach about registering for classes.
