As residents in St. Bernard Parish and throughout Southeast Louisiana recover from Hurricane Ida, Nunez Community College in Chalmette will offer a free Minor Repairs 101 Workshop to assist them in their efforts.
The Minor Repairs 101 Workshop will be offered twice this Saturday, first from 9 a.m. to noon, then again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the Nunez campus.
This one-day course from Nunez’s STEAM Division will cover the basics that an individual needs to start the recovery process, from documentation to mitigating damages. The documentation portion will cover basic insurance information, contacting insurance companies, and permitting. The minor repairs portion will cover safety, hand and power tools, wall and roof sheathing, fencing, and mold mitigation.
The workshops are free, but attendance is capped at 15 participants per session. Masks must be worn at all times during the workshops.
To register, visit Nunez.edu/workforce and click Apply and Register for Workforce. In the course of the application process, enter CRN 10563 for the morning session or CRN 10562 for the afternoon session.
Minor Repairs 101 is the first of several workshops that Nunez’s STEAM Division will offer in the coming weeks to help the community recover from Hurricane Ida.
