Nunez Community College is currently seeking a Paralegal Studies Program Manager

Job Summary:
Appointed by the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, or the appropriate dean, the program manager is a teaching, full time faculty member in the content area of the program and is responsible for the coordination of degrees awarded in the Program. Program managers are given at least one course load release each Fall and Spring semester to conduct administrative duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaches program courses
  • Devises, drafts, and disseminates policies for the program.
  • Assesses and reports on program.
  • Provides leadership, facilitates and completes required program accreditation and endorsements.
  • Works with program faculty, department chairs and deans to schedule program specific courses and consults with other departments and programs on scheduling of shared and related courses.
  • Reviews courses and Curriculum and suggests changes when required.
  • Initiates changes through Curriculum Committee.
  • Researches, records and reports on Industry Based Credentials appropriate to the program.
  • Advises and coordinates advising for students seeking a degree or credential in the program. This includes tracking students through use of degree audits or through student tracking systems or software implemented by the College or the program.
  • Evaluate student transcripts as requested.
  • Manages Advisory Board selection; schedules meetings and creates agenda; and documents meetings and advisory actions.
  • Develops relationships with community members and appropriate partners to include institutions for transfer, possible employers, appropriate community stakeholders or organizations.
  • Sits on the College’s Council of Program Managers.
  • Collaborates with similar program faculty at other LCTCS institutions through peer groups, content appropriate meetings and task specific workgroups.
  • Coordinates with the Library and IT director and Facilities personnel to support program needs.
  • Actively recruits students for program and approves program specific recruiting materials. Organizes and/ or participates in recruiting event, open houses, speaking engagements, etc. both on campus and in the community.
  • Manages the program budget.
  • Participates in the selection and purchasing process for program specific supplies and equipment.
  • Actively participates in recruiting, interview and selection processes for new full-time and adjunct program faculty and for other institutional faculty and staff as needed.
  • Participates in support, mentoring and evaluating of adjunct program faculty.
  • Provides program information on curriculum, advising, transfer or employment, etc. related to the program to all members of the Nunez community, including students, faculty, advisors and administrators as needed.
  • Participates in professional development activities which may include local, regional or national conferences

Although appointed for an academic year, program managers should be available for occasional consultation during summers and semester breaks to provide consistency in program leadership. The College will make every effort to provide adequate prior notice for face to face meetings and will make use of phone, electronic communication and video conferencing technology when possible. Compensation for longer interactions, projects, extended on-campus attendance or College required travel will be handled on an individual basis. The College also recognizes that there may be times that program managers are unavailable during summers and semester breaks and will work with them to address concerns that may arise at those times.

Minimum Qualifications:
A master’s degree or higher in an appropriate academic discipline and a minimum of three years teaching experience at the college level are preferred in the programs offering Associate, Associate of Arts, Associate of General Studies, and Associate of Science degrees. In programs awarding the Associate of Applied Science and other technical certificates, appropriate degrees and/or experience are required.

Physical Demands:
When applicable:

  • Ability to work in excess of 40 hours a week, which may include nights and weekends.
  • Ability to view a computer screen for long periods of time.Ability to function in a high-pressure, stressful environment and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to carry <25 lbs., stand, sit, reach, bend, and climb.
