The History Lecture Series returns to the Nunez Auditorium Oct. 1 with an examination of the role the Mississippi River has played over the centuries in shaping life in St. Bernard Parish and the surrounding areas.
The Mississippi River will flow through the Nunez Auditorium when the college’s History Lecture Series returns Oct. 1.
St. Bernard Parish Historian William de Marigny Hyland will examine the river’s outsized impact on life in the parish and beyond through the story of Jacques Esnould de Livaudais, the first Captain of the Port of New Orleans. The lecture will span the past, present and future of the force of nature that literally shaped, and is shaping, St. Bernard Parish.
Nunez is proud to present our semesterly History Lecture Series free of charge to the public. The entire community is invited to attend. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception, and the lecture will run 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
