All-Day Event

UPDATE: Nunez Graduates Allowed Two Guests at 2020/2021 Graduation on May 27

Both 2020 and 2021 Nunez Community College graduates are invited to participate in a commencement ceremony May 27 on the Nunez campus, but the plan has changed significantly since commencement was announced in April.

Changes in state mandates, CDC guidelines, and a request from our student body each contributed to Nunez’s decision to allow each graduate to invite TWO (2) guests to attend their graduation ceremony. Information for picking up graduation guest tickets is included below.

Guests will be required to wear masks throughout the entire ceremony and are asked to bring their own masks. Nunez will have a limited number of masks available at the door if needed. No one will be allowed in the building without a mask, including graduates and guests, as the Nunez Auditorium will be at 100 percent capacity.

As previously announced, Nunez will hold abbreviated commencement ceremonies for each division at the college. Graduates will walk across the stage in cap and gown to receive their diploma, but official remarks will be filmed and compiled at another time. The entire ceremony will be posted on all Nunez social media in the days following the May 27 ceremonies.

Due to the inclusion of guests (two per graduate) each ceremony has been expanded from one hour to two hours. The new start times are listed below. All graduates who wish to participate must register using the new sign-up forms. This includes graduates who registered previously using any of the old sign-up forms.

After graduates receive their diploma they are invited to attend Grad Fest outside the AST building. Several college recruiters will be in attendance with transfer information. Graduates will be treated to a gift from the college and SGA. Light refreshments will be available to graduates only.

A professional photographer will be on stage to take a photo of graduates with Chancellor Tinney as they cross the stage. An order form for picture packages will be included in an envelope with each diploma.

For Graduates: Parking will be in the rear of the AST Building
Graduates will enter through the rear entrance and receive a card with instructions for all the steps of their ceremony. Graduates must arrive and check in 30 MINUTES BEFORE the beginning of their division’s ceremony.

For Guests: Parking will be in the front of the AST Building
Guests will enter through the front Auditorium doors where they will present a ticket for entry. Tickets are time specific and guests will only be allowed inside during that designated timeslot.

TICKETS

Each graduate will be allotted two guest tickets to their registered ceremony. Tickets will grant access only for the time printed on the ticket.

Students are responsible for picking up tickets from May 10-24 at the Student Affairs Office in the Administration Building. The Student Affairs Office is open Monday–Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Reminder: Guests must present their tickets at the door in order to enter.

Guests will be seated between 45 to 15 minutes prior to each ceremony. For example, guests for the 10 a.m. ceremony may enter the Nunez Auditorium beginning at 9:15 a.m., and the doors will be closed at 9:45 a.m. Because the ceremonies are being filmed, no guests will be allowed to enter the auditorium in the 15 minutes prior to each ceremony. Guests are also asked to remain seated until the ceremony is complete.
