Position: Director of Academic Initiatives and Strategic Partnerships
Division: Education, Training, and Student Success
Reports To: Dean of Instruction

Position Summary
The Director of Academic Initiatives and Strategic Partnerships assists the Dean of Instruction in providing innovative vision and leadership for Academics, Career and Technical Education (CTE) and other emerging workforce-focused fields, while cultivating a caring learning environment centered on student success. The Director plans, organizes, administers, and evaluates programs, projects, and activities of the division and collaborates with industry partners and other stakeholders to create academic and career-training programs of value to the community. The Director of Academic Initiatives and Strategic Partnerships also oversees the Coordinator of Instruction and Nunez Community College’s dual enrollment program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Social Work, or a related field
  • Five (5) years of directly related experience, which includes at least two (2) years of experience in career advising, academic support, student retention, or related in a Higher Ed setting
    • Allowed substitutions:
      • Bachelor’s degree in one of the named fields is accepted with an additional four (4) years of the required work experience
      • Master’s degree in any field is accepted with an additional two (2) years of the required experience
      • PhD in one of the named fields will substitute for two (2) years of the required experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or terminal degree in higher education, social work, or a related field
  • 8+ years of related experience, which includes at least five (5) years of experience in career advising, academic support, student retention, or related in a Higher Ed setting
  • 2+ years of experience in business development and/or strategic partnership management (may be concurrent with experience above)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists Dean of Instruction in developing and implementing long-range divisional programs, courses, plans, goals, and policies, including the formulation of instructional objectives and curricular revisions
  • Oversees all aspects of Nunez Community College’s dual enrollment program
  • Supervises the Coordinator of Instruction
  • Supports the College's overall enrollment goals by implementing strategies that meet the needs of high school administrators and complies with the college's internal policies and administrative procedures to fulfill objectives, meet timelines, and complete outreach plans for targeted schools and student populations
  • Serves as a liaison between partnering school site administrators and the College's Program Chairs to coordinate the scheduling of dual enrollment course offerings
  • Researches and creates unique curricula and IBCs for industries in Nunez Community College’s service areas
  • Creates professional development opportunities for faculty on the best practices of pedagogy, course management, and student retention
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Instruction, Vice Chancellor for Education, Training & Student Success, and/or Chancellor
