Position: Director of Development
Department: Institutional Advancement
Reports To: Associate Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement

Position Summary
This position ensures the college accomplishes its goals and objectives through developing and coordinating philanthropic initiatives and strengthening business and industry partnerships. This individual will develop fundraising initiatives, work collaboratively with external stakeholders, communicate the core values of the College and provide leadership for advancement efforts. This individual will also have proven communication skills with an ability to write and speak persuasively about the role of educational philanthropy.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and organize fundraising initiatives including prospect research, cultivation, solicitation and donor stewardship for the Nunez Community College Foundation. Implement a thorough donor acknowledgement and stewardship system and maintain consistent contact with major donors. Ensure proper stewardship and recognition of all gifts. Communicate effectively with the Foundation Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Foundation Board to function properly and to make informed decisions. Research and pursue grant opportunities suited for the Nunez Community College Foundation.
  • Develop and organize advocacy and outreach events designed to strengthen partnerships and enhance and advance friend and fundraising efforts including the annual gala, scholarship events, advocacy sessions, etc.
  • Monitor and approve all Foundation expenses and submit annual reports and documents required by state agencies. Maintain official records and documents and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Work in partnership with the College's fiscal affairs and student affairs offices to award scholarships and fund programmatic initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other community groups and foundations of two-year and four-year institutions of higher learning, and utilizes those relationships to strategically enhance the Foundation's mission. Actively participate in the LCTCS Advancement Subcommittee.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Business, Non-Profit Management or related field.
  • 3 years’ experience in fundraising or nonprofit management.

Preferred Education and Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Business, Non-Profit Management or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
  • Experience in a higher education environment leading and organizing college initiatives.
  • Experience working directly with non-profit boards.
  • Ability to forge successful relationships and partnerships.
  • Experience in grant writing.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Physical Demands: When Applicable

  • Ability to work in excess of 40 hours a week, which may include nights and weekends.
  • Ability to view a computer screen for long periods of time.
  • Ability to function in a high-pressure, stressful environment and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to carry <25 lbs., stand, sit, reach, bend, climb, reach and push/pull.
