Position: Mentor for Career Exploration Academy

Position Summary
Nunez Community College is seeking mentor and supervise up to 45 Career Exploration students during the six-week summer program. This person will also attend off campus field trips with students, as well as facilitate soft skills curriculum. This person may also be asked to create their own activities to do with the students. The program will run Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, June 1, 2026 through July 9, 2026. The mentor's hours will be 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • This program will introduce the participants to our various education/training programs at Nunez Community College. The goal is for them to decide on a career path and possibly register for dual enrollment at their High School or Nunez Community College.
  • Mentor orientation prior to start of June 1, 2026.
  • Implementation and coordination of the prepared program and schedule.
  • Assisting with any necessary changes to the program as conflicts arise.
  • Facilitate soft skills curriculum.
  • Introduce representatives from various industry sectors who will be leading class discussions at on campus and off campus visits.
  • Assist with moderating discussions and keeping order during discussions.
  • Supervise the students participating in CPR certifications.
  • Assist with Lunch preparations for students when necessary.
  • Meet daily with the Summer College and Career Readiness Academy Team to discuss the current day activities and prepare for next day activities.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Two (2) years of teaching or summer camp counseling experience working with grades 8-12. 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Counseling.
