Position: Mentor for Career Exploration Academy
Department: Education, Training and Student Success
Reports To: Director of Workforce Development

Position Summary
Nunez Community College is seeking a Mentor for Career Exploration Academy. This person will mentor and supervise up to 30 Career Exploration Students. This person will also attend off campus field trips with students. This program will run Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, June 3, 2024 through June 27, 2024. The Mentor’s work hours will be 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.

Education

Required

  • High School Diploma (21 Years of Age).
  • Education or Summer Camp Counselor or Related Field.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Counseling.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Two years of Teaching or Summer Camp Counseling experience working with grades 8-12.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • This program will introduce the participants to our various education/training programs at Nunez Community College. The goal is for them to decide on a career path and possibly register for dual enrollment at their High School or Nunez Community College.
  • Meet with the Director of Workforce Development for four hours prior to June 3, 2024.
  • Implementation and coordination of the prepared program and schedule.
  • Assisting with any necessary changes to the program as conflicts arise.
  • Introduce representatives from various industry sectors who will be leading class discussions at on campus and off campus visits.
  • Assist with moderating discussions and keeping order during discussions.
  • Supervise the students participating in HAZMAT, OSHA and CPR certifications.
  • Assist with Lunch preparations for students when necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Microsoft Office and able to perform all duties and responsibilities listed above.
