Nunez Community College in Chalmette is currently registering students for the Summer and Fall 2021 Semesters.

Full schedules for both terms can be viewed at Nunez.edu/schedule. Links to static schedules can be found at the bottom of the page for browsing, as well as the Dynamic Course Scheduler, which is updated regularly with the number of seats remaining in each class.

Summer classes begin May 31. Fall classes will begin in August. Both the Summer and Fall semesters offer a variety of on-campus, online and hybrid courses.

New and returning students who require assistance with registration can call the college at 504-278-6467 or use the award-winning Live Chat feature on Nunez.edu. Returning students can also register themselves on the Louisiana Community and Technical College System’s Log On Louisiana (LoLA) website.

Students who require financial aid for the Summer semester must submit their 2021-22 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) prior to the beginning of the Summer term. The Nunez Community College Foundation also has scholarships available for the Fall semester at Nunez.edu/scholarships. Deadline to apply for scholarships is July 15.

Nunez Chancellor Dr. Tina Tinney has emphasized that online and hybrid course offerings, which increased exponentially over the past year in response to the coronavirus pandemic, will be a fixture at Nunez moving forward. Nunez student and SGA President Michelle Roper of Chalmette said online courses have proven so convenient that her Nunez schedule has consisted solely of online courses for the past three semesters.

“Online classes allow students to work at their own pace. So if you have an appointment or a meeting you need to attend, you don’t have to rearrange your entire schedule or miss any instruction,” said Roper. “You can run errands. You can live your life.”

On the other side of the issue, Nunez student Chelsey Grossley of New Orleans said Nunez’s commitment to masking and social distancing protocols in order to continue on-campus courses over the past year has played a crucial role in her success.

“I’m the type of person who has to see the instructor. That helps me learn. I’m not a fan of online class at all,” said Grossley, who is also a student worker at Nunez.

Regardless of the mode of instruction, Nunez guides students toward certification, graduation and transfer to a four-year university via a combination of faculty advisors and an array of resources from its Student Success Center. Tutoring, Virtual Study Sessions, Student Check-Ins, Student Success Workshops and more are available to students in general academics and career and technical education.
