Position: Director of Student Success
Division: Education, Training, and Student Success
Reports to: Dean of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success, and Vice Chancellor of Education, Training, and Student Success.

Position Summary:
To lead, oversee, and participate in the work of the Student Success Center and Enrollment. Responsible for overseeing coordination of Recruiting, Advising, Student Early Alert, Career Services, Testing, and Veterans Services. Supervises Student Success Coaches and Testing Administrator.

EDUCATION
Required:

  • Earned Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 3 years of experience in Student Advising Management or higher education experience.

Preferred:

  • Earned Master’s Degree.
  • 5 years of experience in student advising management or higher education experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervisory Duties:

  • Exercise functional and technical supervision over the Student Success Center. Student Success Coaches, and Testing Administrator.
  • Lead, plan, provide training to, and review the work of Student Success Coaches and Testing Administrator.
  • Participates in hiring and discipline of Student Success staff.
  • Assists with other supervisory duties as assigned by Dean of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success and Vice Chancellor of Education Training and Student Success, and Chancellor.

Oversight of Student Success Center Team:

  • Oversees:
    • Creation, implementation, and use of proper advising and registration procedures.
    • Training of faculty and staff in the proper advising and registration procedures.
    • Keeps Dean of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success appraised of all student activities.
    • Plans Orientation and student onboarding, as well as follow up activities to help reinforce student knowledge of the institution and institutional processes.
    • Oversees early alert system.
    • Oversees Student Success coaches and Testing Administrator.
    • Maintains relationships with recruiting affiliates and industry partners.
  • Ensures:
    • Utilization of innovative, effective, and equitable student services practices.
    • Reviews student evaluations of Student Success Center and creates procedures to help maintain or improve service to students.
  • Oversight of Student Success Team Development:
    • Assists with Development of advising Guides.
    • Assists with preparations for recommendations of course offerings.
    • Maintenance of appropriate student records, e.g. audits, advising records, in-take forms etc.
    • Ensures all deadlines met related to this function.
    • Oversight of Student Guidance/Advising Activities.
  • Oversees:
    • Provision of career counseling and academic advising.
    • Adherence to Curriculum Guides in schedule to insure timely completion of a program of studies.
    • Service to special populations.
    • Appropriate referrals to correct office for students with special needs.
    • Ensures all deadlines met related to this function.
  • College and/or Community Services:
    • Participates in recruitment activities, e.g., career fairs, etc.
    • Assist Dean of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success with compliance and reporting.
    • Oversees community activities, along with Program Chairs, Faculty and staff.
    • Oversees Graduation planning and execution.
    • Oversees Love Your Community College Day, Pelican Preview Days, Trunk or Treat, and any additional events hosted or supported by Student Success team and/or Student Government.
  • Provides service to the College that may include some of the following activities:
    • Serve on or chair College committees.
    • Facilitate workshops.
    • Assist Dean of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success with new or revised enrollment practices.
  • Provides service to the community that may include:
    • Participate in college and career fairs.
    • Participate in charity or community activities.
    • Meets all deadlines related to this function.
  • Professional Activities, Leadership, and Service – participates in professional development activities that may include:
    • Completes a master's degree or higher.
    • Maintains membership in professional organizations.
    • Presents a paper or facilitate a workshop at a professional conference.
    • Participates in industry visits.
    • Meets all deadlines related to this function.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
