Position: Maintenance Technician
Department: Facilities
Reports To: Facilities Foreman

Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician performs general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance/Repairs: Performs general maintenance and repairs for the campus including painting, plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating, cooling, and other building systems.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Completes preventive maintenance tasks for mechanical and equipment such as cleaning or replacing filters, belts, capacitors, thermostats, and fuses on air conditioning units and systems.
  • Events: Assist with event setup and breakdown.
  • Work Orders: Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs. Provides timely communication on work order requests. Tracks and closes out work order requests.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Required Experience

  • Three (3) years of professional work experience in carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and/or electrical repairs.

Accepted Substitutions

  • HVAC or other relevant certification(s) will substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more and move furniture.
  • Must be highly skilled in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, and plumbing.
  • Skills in the proper use of test equipment, hand & power tools, diagnosing and trouble-shooting equipment malfunctions and systems failures are required.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required

Preferred Education

  • Associate’s degree.

Preferred Experience

  • Five (5) or more years of professional work experience in carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical repairs for a commercial business or governmental organization.
  • Documented journeyman status in an electrical, mechanical, and plumbing trade.
