Position: Safety Training Coordinator/Instructor
Department: Workforce Development
Reports To: Director of Workforce Development

Position Summary
The Safety Training Coordinator/Instructor will be responsible for developing, coordinating, managing, and teaching courses directly related to safety training. The training will be in line with core safety principles and industry specific guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver instruction for OSHA, HAZWOPER, FEMA, Fire Incipient, PPE and other relevant safety training certification and licenses.
  • Coordinate and deliver instruction for American Heart Association First Aid, CPR, AED and other relevant emergency response training certifications and licenses.
  • Coordinate and deliver instruction for NCCER Core certifications and other NCCER related courses/trainings.
  • Coordinate and deliver instruction for Light Equipment: Forklift, Telescopic Extended Forklift, Scissor Lift, Aerial Manlift, Boom Lift, etc.
  • Coordinate and deliver instruction for Heavy Equipment operations such as Excavator, Dover, Skid Steer, Front End Loader, etc. certifications.
  • Coordinate and deliver instruction for training in Confine Space, Rigging, Signaling, Trench & Excavation, Fall Protection, Lockout/Tag out certifications.
  • Assist and facilitate training with various departments throughout Nunez CC.
  • Assist with developing customized safety training programs for our industry partners.
  • Meet with industry partners as deemed necessary.

Education and Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or 2 years in Industry.
  • Industrial Plant or Construction Industry, Safety.
  • BLS Certified, NCCER Core Instructor, Rigging, HAZWOPER-40hrs Heavy Equipment certifications.

 
Required Experience

  • 2 to 3 years of industry work experience with safety, heavy equipment operations, or safety training.

Preferred Education and Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or 5 yrs + Industry work experience.
  • Safety, Heavy Equipment Operations Field of Study.
  • OSHA OTI 500 Certified Instructor, AHA BLS Certified, NCCER Core & NCCER.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Associates Degree in Construction Trades Field or Industrial Maintenance/Operator Field.
  • Possess required certifications and willingness to pursue future certifications as industry dictates.

Preferred Experience

  • Associates Degree in Construction Trades Field or Industrial Maintenance/Operator Field.
  • Possess required certifications and willing to pursue future certifications as needed.
  • Teaching/Training experience preferred

Physical Demands: When Applicable

  • Ability to view a computer screen for long periods of time.
  • Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to carry <100 lbs., stand, sit, reach, bend, climb, crawl, reach and push/pull.
