Position: Student Success Coach
Division: Education, Training and Student Success
Reports To: Director of Student Success

Position Summary
The Student Success Coach manages a caseload of students by providing academic coaching and advisement. Supports student success at the college by advising students, delivering student success workshops, and providing case management for a subset of the student population. The Student Success coaches also work directly with onboarding students by attending recruitment events and enrolling students through the Orientation process. 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
  • One (1) year of relevant work experience post degree completion in advising, student advocacy, mentoring, or coaching

Allowed Substitutions:

  • Associate’s degree in any field accepted with an additional one (1) year of the required experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education administration, educational leadership, counseling, or a related field
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience post degree completion in college-level advising, student advocacy, mentoring, or coaching

Duties and Responsibilities Summary:

  • Supports and manages students from initial onboarding to completion through advisement and academic support
  • Academically advises students, assists with developing educational plans, and clarifies educational goals
  • Assists with supporting students through the Nunez Academic Early Alert system
  • Directly supports referrals related to academic success topics like time management, study skills, etc. 
  • Manages and delivers student success workshops both within and outside the classroom on topics including time management, study strategies, financial management, etc.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of New Student Orientation
  • Assists with campus-wide events related to enrollment, testing, advising, student activities, and orientation
  • Attends off-campus recruiting events and conducts campus tours for visitors, schools, and community
  • Works directly with one or more of the following areas: campus preview days, students' activities, Student Government, Graduation, Orientation, communication plans, and advising special populations
  • Assumes special responsibilities on assignment from the Dean of Strategic Enrollment and Student Success, Vice Chancellor for Education, Training and Student Success, or Chancellor

  • Academic advising and educational planning

  • Workshop development and facilitation
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Banner, ConexEd, or Canvas
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving
  • Cultural competence and effective communication with diverse populations
  • Active listening and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
