Endowed Professorships

Nunez Community College recognizes excellence in teaching, leadership, and innovation through its Endowed Professorships program. Supported by the Nunez Community College Foundation, these awards honor outstanding faculty members who demonstrate exceptional commitment to student success, academic excellence, and community engagement.

Endowed Professorships provide recipients with funding to support professional development, research, instructional enhancements, and innovative projects that advance the mission of the College. Each professorship reflects the generosity of donors who invest in the growth and vitality of Nunez’s academic programs and faculty excellence.

Through this program, Nunez empowers its faculty to pursue new ideas, strengthen student learning, and expand the College’s impact across Southeast Louisiana. Endowed Professorships ensure that Nunez continues to attract, retain, and support educators who inspire the next generation of leaders and professionals.

Eligibility and Criteria

Full-time faculty members with a record of exceptional teaching, student mentorship, and college or community engagement are eligible for consideration. Selection is based on:

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and student success
  • Evidence of leadership, innovation, or community impact
  • Plans for professional development or instructional enhancement

Award Purpose

Funds may be used for:

  • Professional development and training
  • Research or curriculum innovation
  • Instructional equipment and technology
  • Community or industry engagement projects

The Elaine P. Nunez Community College Foundation determines the amount of each award annually. In general, the total amount will be based on the investment performance of the endowment and other fiscal factors.
