Position: Nursing Instructor - Adjunct
Department: Health & Natural Sciences / Allied Health
Reports To: Director of Nursing
Position Summary
The Adjunct Nursing Instructor provides competent instruction in both clinical and theoretical areas of nursing. The instructor serves as a role model in professional settings, evaluates student progress, maintains accurate academic records, assists with curriculum and program development, and supports the mission and goals of the institution through committee service, advising, and mentorship.
Required Education & Experience
- Associate’s degree in Nursing
- Valid, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible to practice in Louisiana.
- Three (3) years of nursing experience, including at least one (1) year as a medical-surgical hospital staff nurse providing direct patient care.
- Practice as a nurse for at least six (6) full-time months within the three years preceding application.
- Approval by the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners prior to hire.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Nursing
- Prior teaching experience in a clinical or classroom setting
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides competent instruction in clinical and theoretical nursing subjects.
- Maintains accurate records of student performance, attendance, and academic progress.
- Participates in team teaching and models professional behavior for students.
- Promotes positive relationships with hospitals, clinics, and clinical sites.
- Assists the Director of Nursing in scheduling and coordinating clinical site usage.
- Supports ongoing assessment of student learning and curriculum effectiveness.
- Contributes to student mentoring, advising, and academic support activities.
- Serves on department and institutional committees as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health, or Vice Chancellor for Education, Training, and Student Success.
