Position: Assistant Librarian
Division: Education, Training and Student Success
Reports To: Head Librarian
Position Summary
The Assistant Librarian will work in Nunez Community College's library and oversee the College's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) for The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The Assistant Librarian will assist the College's head Librarian in the general operations of the library. Serving as the QEP Coordinator the Assistant Librarian will execute the QEP initiative as per SACSCOC. This position reports to Nunez Community College's Head Librarian.
Education and Experience Required
- Earned Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science or other related field.
- Experience working with SACSCOC or QEP Initiative.
- Experience with student information systems, and library software.
Preferred
- Master’s degree is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists in developing, maintaining, and evaluating the collections to support of Nunez Community College's instructional programs.
- Provides guidance to all members of the Nunez community dealing with library-related issues such as information literacy, distance learning, copyright, course-integrated library instruction, etc.
- Assists patrons with accessing and navigating library databases, print resources, archives, special collections, and the internet.
- Creates instructional resources, such as Libguides, as requested for course research assignments and general library use.
- Promotes library services and resources through outreach, displays, and other programming.
- Keeps abreast of technological advancements and developments in the library sector and works to adapt and integrate them for the Nunez Library.
- Staffs the library during some evening and occasional weekend hours.
- Supervises the day-to-day activities of the QEP initiative.
- Chairs the QEP Committee.
- Prepares results and findings for annual institutional progress reports and a five-year QEP evaluation report to SACSCOC.
- Partners with the Director of Institutional Research to conduct needs assessments and facilitate institution-wide development efforts related to the QEP.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion and use diplomacy when interacting with all levels of personnel, including following FERPA guidelines.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize projects and programs to meet deadlines, have the ability to work independently, be able to prepare official documents, and have strong articulation and people skills.
