Associate Vice Chancellor of Advancement and External Affairs

Overview:
This position ensures the college accomplishes its goals and objectives through developing and strengthening business and industry partnerships, coordinating fundraising initiatives, serving as Executive Director of the Nunez Community College Foundation Board, developing, and overseeing auxiliary services and athletics.  This individual will develop fundraising initiatives, develop grant proposals, work collaboratively with external stakeholders, communicate the core values of the College, and provide leadership for advancement efforts. The Associate Vice Chancellor of Advancement and External Affairs also organizes the Nunez Community College Foundation scholarship program and alumni affairs program. The Associate Vice Chancellor of Advancement and External Affairs will enhance the College's image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations. This individual will also have proven communication skills with an ability to write and speak persuasively about the role of educational philanthropy.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and organize fundraising initiatives including prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, and donor stewardship for the Nunez Community College Foundation. Implement a thorough donor acknowledgement and stewardship system and maintain consistent contact with major donors.
  • Communicate effectively with the Foundation Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Foundation Board to function properly and to make informed decisions. Develop and organize advocacy and outreach events designed to strengthen partnerships and enhance and advance friend and fundraising efforts including the annual gala, scholarship events, advocacy sessions, etc.
  • Provide leadership for governmental relations and external affairs for the College. Develop and organize legislative advocacy, college outreach initiatives, working relationships with the Nunez Community College Foundation, governmental entities, and other organizations that conduct business with the College.
  • Conduct outreach to foster collaborative working relationships with business, industry, agencies, community organizations and/or education institutions. Serves as College representative on various statewide, local and College committees and attends events as appropriate. Plan and organize business and industry meetings, special events to strengthen advocacy efforts with external stakeholders including Economic Development, Chamber of Commerce, and local government agencies.
  • Develop and organize the Nunez Community College Foundation Scholarship Program. Oversee application process, scholarship award cycle, and stewardship program. Maintain donor documentation and signed assurances.
  • Provide oversight, management, and administration of all auxiliary services at the college including the college bookstore, coffeehouse and copy center. Recommend and administer operational policies, procedures, and processes in support of auxiliary services operations. Serve as a liaison to internal departments within the College, consumers, the public, and/or outside agencies, contractors, and vendors to respond to inquiries and provide information on available resources and services.
  • Provide oversight, management, and administration of all phases of intercollegiate sports programs and teams within the guidelines, rules and regulations of Nunez Community College, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
  • Develop and submit grant proposals on behalf of the Nunez Foundation to fund and support college-wide initiatives. Research and prepare Board of Regents Matching Grant submissions on an annual basis.
  • Develop and organize the Nunez Community College Alumni Affairs Program.
  • Monitor and approve all Foundation expenses and submit annual reports and documents required by state agencies. Maintain official records and documents and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Work in partnership with the College's fiscal affairs and student affairs offices to award scholarships and fund programmatic initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other foundations of two-year and four-year institutions of higher learning and utilizes those relationships to strategically enhance the Foundation's mission. Actively participate in the LCTCS Advancement Subcommittee.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Proven and demonstrated ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
  • Experience in a higher education environment leading and organizing college initiatives.
  • Experience working directly with non-profit boards.
  • Experience in grant writing.
  • Experience in media relations, developing and designing marketing information, and managing teams.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and records maintenance.
  • Exceptional written, speaking, listening, and presenting skills.
  • Demonstrative leadership skills and abilities.
  • Commitment to quality and integrity.
  • Exceptional skills in communications and interpersonal relations.

Preferred:

  • A master’s degree in Educational Leadership or Non-Profit Management.
  • Prior experience in a higher education environment leading and organizing college initiatives.
  • Prior experience working directly with non-profit boards.
  • Prior experience in grant writing.
  • Prior experience in governmental and legislative advocacy.
