Director of Workforce Development
Position Location: Workforce Develop & Continuing Education
The position reports directly to Executive Dean of Continuing Education
Job Summary:
The position is responsible for directing the development and delivery of training for industry’s current and emerging needs; directing the development and delivery of training for new and expanding business and industry; serving as an active team member of various workforce development boards and committees, actively pursuing grants and other funding resources, and managing the activities of all personnel involved in Workforce Development.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strengthen communication between Nunez Community College and businesses and industries in the Nunez service area.
- Be an active team member on the local workforce development boards and committees.
- Organize and manage advisory committees for all occupational training programs.
- When necessary, conducts surveys, needs assessments, and research to determine customized training offerings.
- Promote and provide adult upgrading and retraining, customized training, emergency services training (includes fire service, hazardous materials, and anti-terrorism training) and related instruction for individuals and companies.
- Train individuals who need to upgrade their current job skills and/or develop new job skills to remain in their current occupations or find new employment.
- Actively research, write, submit, and manage workforce training grants, as well as pursue other avenues of workforce training funds.
- Publicize, through the Public Information Officer, training classes, collaborative efforts, grants, etc.
- Coordinate curriculum planning and development for customized training classes.
- Recruit, supervise and evaluate part-time faculty in workforce training programs.
- Evaluate training programs to assure courses are of quality and in compliance with national and statewide workforce training standards, guidelines, and regulations.
- Work closely with credit and non-credit registrars, Bursar, Director of Sponsored Programs, CFO, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and others, per situational demands, to assure accurate records, billing, and data transference.
- Manage budget accounts, including targeting income, setting fees, writing proposals for funding, approving expenditures.
- Plan, organize, direct, and control the functions of the Workforce Development office.
- Articulate the mission of the office, within the scope of the overall College mission and within the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan.
- Prepare and strive to achieve annual goals complementary to the mission of the College.
- Facilitate communication with and work for common interests of College students, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Participate in College meetings/committees as appropriate.
- Be willing and able to work at nontraditional times (evenings, Saturdays, during regular College holidays and breaks, and occasionally a Sunday).
- Commit to a minimum of one evening a week as “Administrator On-Call” (must be on campus for entire evening).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Dean of Continuing Education
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree (graduate degree preferred) and three to five years’ of relevant experience in conducting training programs; ability to work independently; coordinate and direct multiple programs with little or no direct supervision; possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
During time of peak times and reporting deadlines, this job may involve extended work hours. Work days during this time may include nights and weekends. Ability to be able to lift up to 25lbs, ability to perform the following activities minimally up to 10% of the time, Bend; climb; crawl; reach; sit; squatting/kneeling; stand; twist; walk; work above shoulder.
Salary Range: $55,000 -$60,000
