Position Summary
Nunez Community College is seeking a skilled Facility Foreman responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of building maintenance activities for the college.  Oversees daily management of building systems, mechanical, electrical, energy management and fire/life safety functional areas.  The Facility Foreman develops, recommends, and administers policies, procedures and processes in support of facilities operations and well as responds to inquiries and requests for service. While the Facility Foreman supervises technical trade staff and contractors, this role also performs hand-on work as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, maintains, and manages the operations and reliability of facilities and general infrastructure systems.  Implements and monitors compliance with approved policies, procedures, and processes; reviews and update written maintenance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), checklists, instructions and manuals.  Reviews and updates procedures and timelines for disaster recovery. Responds to early morning and afterhours emergencies.  Provides facilities related documents and feedback as needed.  Participates on committees and training as assigned.
  • Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance processes and programs.  Leads and inspects preventative maintenance work efforts and other work requests in terms of progress and completion and to ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations and guidelines. Perform on-going review of maintenance work needed for the college.  Work to harden buildings against wind, water, and fire.
  • Responsible for scheduling and inspection of worked performed by service work contractors for boiler, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevator and other service contacts.  Authorizes payment for service based on inspection.
  • Oversees and coordinates the college’s work order system for facilities management.  Responses to special requests and complaints received from customers.  Works with Office Coordinator to provide updates to internal customers. 
  • Documents and mitigates major damages to campus as soon as possible. Records equipment used and hours worked by staff.  Work in conjunction with Operations Director and Property and Business Affairs staff on insurance or FEMA related claims.
  • Follows up on any injuries on campus. Conducts interviews and complete require forms as needed (e.g. ORM DA3000, DA2000, etc.).
  • Works with Events Manager to plan and schedule assistance with internal and external events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience:

  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience as a foreman or lead.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to be dynamic leader that can work and communicate effectively with individuals possessing varying levels of accounting and budgeting knowledge.
  • A high aptitude in accountancy and a good understanding of computers and their role in accounting.
  • Ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Independent decision making.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to represent the school in a professional manner.

Preferred Education & Certifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or certificate (Construction, HVAC/HACR. Electrical or other maintenance related field.
