Full-Time Aerospace Manufacturing Instructor.
Position Location: Career & Technical Education
Classes to take place on the Nunez Community College campus in Chalmette, LA.
Classes will start August 2021.
Qualifications: Experience working in the aerospace field is usually needed, but similar manufacturing experience (as described below) will be considered.
Fabrication/Machine Shop Style:
- Two days per week, two hours each day
- 64 class hours during semester (4hrs per week x 16 weeks)
- Skills Required to be able use the following equipment:
- Band Saws
- Drill Presses
- Manual Mills
- CNC Mills
- Pedestal Grinders
- Precision Measurement
Soldering, Circuit Boards & Wiring Harnesses:
- Two days per week, 2.5 hours each day
- 80 class hours during semester (5hrs per week x 16 weeks)
- Skills Required:
- Soldering
- Circuit Boards
- Wiring Harness Assembly
- Wiring Harness Installation
- Circuit Theory
- Electrical Concepts
Hoist & Cranes:
- One day per week, 1.5 hours each day
- 24 class hours during semester (1.5hrs per week x 16 weeks)
- Skills Required to use the following equipment:
- Stacker
- Tug
- Scissor Lift
- Boom Lift
- Platform Lift
- Hoists
- Cranes
- Rigging
Welding:
- Two days per week, 2.5 hours each day
- 80 class hours during semester (5hrs per week x 16 weeks)
- Skill Required:
- Orbital Tube Welding
- Friction Stir Welding
- Robotic Welding
Surface Preparation, Coatings & Adhesives:
- Two days per week, 2.5 hours each day
- 80 class hours during semester (5hrs per week x 16 weeks)
- Skills Required:
- Surface Preparation and Test
- Application of Conversion Coatings or Primers
- Application of Polyurethane and Epoxy Adhesives
- Vacuum Bagging
Composites:
- One day per week, 1 hour per week
- 16 class hours during semester (1hr per week x 16 weeks
- Skills Required:
- Knowledge of Composite Materials
