Position: Human Resources Manager
Division: Strategic Engagement and Human Capital
Reports To: Executive Director of Strategic Engagement and Human Capital
Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategic Engagement and Human Capital, the Human Resources Manager is the primary human resources officer of Nunez Community College and serves as an advocate regarding benefits, policies, and practices that would have a positive impact on employees and as a visionary, advisor and strategic partner to College administration. The Human Resources Manager provides leadership through the management of a comprehensive human resources office, including talent acquisition, retention, and employment services, performance management, benefits administration and counseling, classification, compensation, and salary administration, training and staff development, regulatory compliance, labor and employee relations, and human resource information systems and records management. Serves as the primary liaison on human resources and employment issues between employees of the College and LCTCS and other public and private agencies.
Education and Experience Required
- Earned Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
- 3-5 years of increasingly responsible management experience in human resources.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion and use diplomacy when interacting with all levels of personnel.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize projects and programs to meet deadlines, have the ability to work independently, be able to prepare official documents, and have strong articulation and people skills.
Preferred
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Higher Education.
- Banner HR/Payroll.
- PHR/SPHR Certification.
- HR Generalist.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight in the delivery and administration of all human resources functions to Nunez Community College's faculty, staff including, but not limited to, the recruiting, hiring and orientation of new team members, exit procedures of departing employees, and the processing of benefits for all employees. Provide direction and support to the staff of the Human Resources Department.
- Ensure that all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, rules, and regulations are followed. Includes EEOC, Title IX, FLSA, FMLA.
- Assist upper level administrators on campus to ensure that any employment-related policies or procedures developed and used by the College are appropriate, legal, and impartial.
- Coordinate closely with the Director of Accounting and Budget on payroll and other related matters to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
- Create and execute a robust employee recognition program.
- Manage the college's employee appraisal and review processes.
- Serve as the primary liaison between state agencies, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, and Nunez Community college for Human Resource related matters.
