Position: Senior Researcher
Division: Education, Training and Student Success
Reports To: Director of Institutional Research and Institutional Effectiveness
Position Summary:
Under the broad supervision of the Director of Institutional Research and Institutional Effectiveness, this full-time 12-month position provides assistance with collection, interpretation, and use of Institutional data in support of the college’s internal and external data needs. Responsible for assessing institutional data needs and designing and conducting research that supports planning initiatives, decision making, institutional effectiveness and assessment activities, and grant proposals. Assist other personnel with the design, implementation, and use of research and assessment.
Education and Experience Required:
- Earned Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum of four years’ experience in a related research field.
- A thorough understanding and commitment to the mission and values of Nunez Community College.
- Competence in oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience with data analysis and knowledge of effective program assessment practices.
- Experience working with a diverse faculty, staff and student body and an ability to promote a campus climate that supports Nunez’s values.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect, extract, analyze, interpret, report and maintain complex data required to fulfill state and federal reporting requirements while ensuring the accuracy of the data and timeliness of the reports.
- Monitor the overall integrity of data, complying with state and federal requirements and taking appropriate steps to correct data discrepancies when noted.
- Prepare and submit recurring federal, state, and accreditation reports that include, but are not limited to: IPEDS, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, Statewide Student Profile System, Funding Formula, HCR 69, Operational Plan, Completers, and internal reports.
- Provide data in response to ad hoc requests for information from a variety of internal and external constituents. Utilize the College's data warehouse to conduct analytical studies measuring student success, support accreditation, college mission, program reviews and strategic planning.
- Provide leadership, guidance and technical support as needed to college personnel in order to improve processes for collecting and ensuring accuracy of data.
- Develop information to meet annual reporting requirements, including data related to distance education, financial aid, developmental enrollment, faculty workload, and personnel.
- Develop, distribute, collect and analyze surveys and survey data, including but not limited to faculty/course surveys, market surveys, and student/employee satisfaction surveys. Provides guidance for program/departmental surveys.
- Utilize Cognos reporting tools to access information contained within the College's data warehouse.
- Prepare and maintain existing information resources, such as the College's Fact Book, retention and Pelican Points of Pride.
- Represent the college at state and system level meetings.
- Provide graphic and numerical display of information for presentation to a variety of audiences.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of IR/IE.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion and use diplomacy when interacting with all levels of personnel.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Follows FERPA guidelines.
- Experience with multiple survey tools and analysis.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, time management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in research, and data analysis.
- Experience with National Student Clearinghouse.
- Ability to communicate information in numerical, graphic, dashboards, and narrative form.
- Must be proficient in database management software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, electronic communication, Cognos reporting tool, and other computer processes.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize projects and programs, have the ability to work independently, be able to prepare official documents, and have strong articulation and people skills.
- Good analytical and strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and ability to relate to a variety of individuals.
- Familiar with educational based research, assessment models and tools, and higher education federal reporting requirements.
