POSITION:  STEAM Program Manager/Instructor

CLASSIFICATION:  Exempt

REPORTS TO: Executive Dean of Continuing Education

JOB SUMMARY:

The STEAM Program Manager/Instructor is responsible for developing, coordinating, managing, and recruiting for all STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Programs and Skill Shop opportunities promoting academic, workforce and outreach programs within the College. The successful candidate will work directly with various departments to develop innovative learning opportunities for a variety of age groups. He or She will manage project budgets and ensure all aspects of the projects are compatible with other institutions and flowing smoothly.  She or he will also coordinate efforts with other departments to create necessary pathways towards current programs offer by the College.  

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the related disciplines from a regionally accredited institution. (A Master’s degree is preferred.)
  • Experience in K-12 or higher education.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse employee and student population.
  • Ability to travel to off-site meetings, events and conferences.
  • Demonstrated ability to present and facilitate professional development.
  • Ability to instruct and train in online course programs such as Canvas.
  • Driven to achieve goals.
  • Knowledge of both school-based and work-based experiential education activities.
  • Ability to organize multiple and varied work assignments:  communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse customers; elicit cooperation in varied situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Implementation and development of STEAM Curriculum and SkillShop Management, while fostering partnerships for increased visibility and enrollment.
  • Will be the lead instructor for courses/workshops in the STEAM Program.
  • Serves as a liaison between the college and the area’s schools, businesses and organizations in developing and coordinating STEAM related initiatives.
  • Maintains a STEAM Summer camp Program.
  • Extend our offerings into more marketable IBC’s i.e. part 107 and CAD.
  • Assist with coordination of Continuing Education Department.
  • Coordinates efforts involving workplace learning opportunities for students by utilizing the SkillShop for related projects, co-ops, and practicums.
  • Coordinates both credit and non-credit experiential education bi-monthly at little to no cost. Including workforce development activities and STEAM activities with appropriate administrators, faculty, staff, students, and outside constituents.
  • Publicizes the college’s activities related to STEAM and SkillShop Programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • During time of peak times and reporting deadlines, this job may involve extended work hours.
  • Work days during this time may include nights and weekends.
  • Ability to be able to lift up to 25lbs, ability to perform the following activities minimally up to 10% of the time, Bend; climb; crawl; reach; sit; squatting/kneeling; stand; twist; walk; work above shoulder.
